Coloured stone jewellery to go with your Navratri styles

Each day of Navratri has different colour significance. For the uninitated, nine avatars of Goddess Durga are worshipped across nine days and since each day is dedicated to one particular avatar, there is significance in terms of colours also. This year, the festival will commemorate with the avatar Shailputri – the goddess worshipped as a girl child or the daughter of a mountain and therefore, the festivity will kick off with royal blue.

Followed by yellow, green, grey, orange, white, red, skyblue and pink venerating other avatars – Brahmacharini (the godess of religious knowledge), Chandraghanta (who is believed to free one of sins and sufferrings), Kushmanda (the goddess believed to have created the world with her divine smile), Skandamata (the mother of war god), Katyayani (a warrior goddess), Kaalratri (the goddess regarded as one of the many destructive forms of the Mother Goddess including Kali, Mahakali, Bhadrakali, Bhairavi, Mrityu, Rudrani, Chamunda, Chandi and Durga), Mahagauri (The goddes believed to fulfill desires) and Siddhidatri (the goddess of meditation) respectively - across the subsequent eight days.

Keeping in mind the colour dedicated to a particular deity on the given day, the goddess is decorated in the same theme, while devotees too revel by wearing the outfits of the same colours. So this year, if you are busy putting together your nine-days’ ensemble, do check out PNG Jewellers’ coloured stone collection to find a matching set to go with your fineries.
